More about Prince

Why did you decide to join Subtotal?

Subtotal is solving some of the most exciting problems in commerce—closing the gap between in-store and online in ways no one else is thinking about. The opportunity to join such a talented team and help shape the future of commerce was one I couldn't pass up.

Where do you find inspiration?

My family, first and foremost. Their support and perspective keep me grounded and motivated. I’m also really energized by ambitious projects—bold ideas with the potential to create meaningful change at scale.

What's your approach to solving tough problems?

I’ve always believed that where there are problems, there are also solutions—you just have to be persistent (and sometimes creative) enough to find them. I’m most engaged when the problem space is meaningful; that’s usually when the best ideas arise.

What's a project or accomplishment you're especially proud of?

I worked on a project called Nuralex, which used AI to simplify legislation and make it easier for everyday people to understand the laws that affect them. Making complex systems more accessible is something I care deeply about, and that work continues to shape how I think about product impact.

Favorite place to visit?

New York City—especially for the culture. There's nothing like the diversity of thought, people, language, food, and perspectives available.

What's a hobby or interest people might not expect?

I write fiction novels in my spare time. It’s something I’ve always loved doing, and it’s a great way to explore different worlds and perspectives.

What's your favorite way to start the day?

Coffee and a few quiet minutes to get grounded before the day ramps up.

Any book, podcast, or creator you've been into lately?

I've been diving back into Chinua Achebe’s work, particularly his African trilogy. His storytelling is timeless, and each reread brings something new.

If you weren't in your current field, what would you be doing?

Probably something with animals or conservation. I’ve always had an interest in wildlife and nature.

What's one thing you're looking forward to learning or trying in the next year?

I’d love to improve my cooking skills—especially learning how to make traditional African dishes from scratch.

Any advice that's stuck with you over the years?

All learning happens through mistakes so don't be afraid of them. The only way out is through.

How do you like to unwind after a busy week?

Playing soccer and spending time with my family—nothing beats it.

Best meal you've had recently?

The tasting menu at Akoko in London was unforgettable—salmon, steak, jollof rice. A perfect blend of flavor and presentation.
