Can I start with the Prototype plan before moving forward with a paid plan?

Yes! We encourage everyone to start with our Prototype plan.

How does pricing work?

Every plan has a base platform fee that includes a set amount of usage. Usage beyond that is billed incrementally at your plan's per-unit rates. Usage is measured across connections, purchases, events, MCP queries, and API requests.

How can I track my usage?

Your usage against each plan limit is shown in real time on the usage page in your dashboard, so you can see where you stand before any additional usage is billed.

What happens if I exceed the included usage?

Nothing stops working. Usage beyond what your plan includes is billed incrementally at your per-unit rates and appears as additional usage fees on your next invoice.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept ACH bank transfer and credit card.

What counts as a purchase?

A purchase is an in-store or online transaction shared by one of your customers. It counts toward your usage when the transaction includes at least one product from a brand you subscribe to.

What is a connection?

A connection is a retail account that one of your shoppers has linked to you through Subtotal, such as their Walmart or Amazon account.

What is an event?

An event is an outbound data transmission we send on your behalf, such as a webhook, a partner integration message, or a record in a data export. A single purchase can generate more than one event if you've enabled multiple webhooks or integrations.

What is an MCP query?

An MCP query is a request to retrieve or process data through Subtotal's MCP server, which lets AI tools work with your purchase data. A single prompt can result in more than one query.
